Congratulations Mr & Mrs Law

Congratulations to Sam and Gary Law who got married on Saturday the 2nd of August at St Paul’s Church in Wibsey and had their reception at the Raggalds Bar in Queensbury.Leeds Wedding Photography

We arrived early at Sam’s parents house to find the lovely bridesmaids being pampered and Sam overseeing this and acting calm as a cucumber! We captured all the little details – including our favourite wedding shoes ever –  decorated converse pumps for the bride in white and her bridesmaids all had black ones to match their dresses. Classic, comfy and just like our rock chick bride – cool! All decorated by the multi – talented Debbie who was Sam’s maid of honour. Also on the multi talented friends list was Shirley who does hair and make up for weddings and was also a guest. She got all the bridesmaids glammed up with flawless make up and made their hair look lovely. As they each got the treatment, Sam put on the bacon and sausages for the whole house. Her parents Stevie and Sue had arrived back from Raggalds where they had been setting up a mere 600 cupcakes that they had made! So Sam has a multi talented family also… her parents own their own bakery and Dad Stevie had also made the cupcake stands. Once all the bridesmaids had been in the pamper seat and we’d all had a bacon or sausage butty (or both!) Sam helped each of her bridesmaids with their dresses. Daughter and bridesmaid Briony had already worn in her pumps as she’d been walking round in them all morning but was loving her pretty dress. We took her out for a few pictures in the garden. As the bridesmaids were dressed, Debbie, Sol and Carol also joined us, along with Stevie and Sue whilst Sam was receiving a pampering. The day looked like it might stay dry at that point… we got some pictures of Sam being transformed from her lovely natural self to a right glamor-puss! It was soon time for her to get her dress on, which was a laced up back. Luckily Debbie had been watching ‘you tube’ video’s on her phone – doing her homework. We told you she was a multi talented lady didn’t we??

Briony’s reaction to her mum was lovely ‘mummy you look like a princess’ she said. Bless her!

The heavens opened and in the conservatory living area all we could hear was heavy rain. We got a few pictures of Sam all ready with her bridesmaids, with her parents and alone before we had to rush off to meet the groom. Gary was waiting at the church with his best man (and Dad) Peter and also usher Sean.  looking dashing in the striking orange and black colour scheme. We managed to get a few shots of the groom with his groomsmen before the French Vicar Thierry ushered them in to take their places waiting for the bride’s arrival. Gary was also very calm and keen for Sam to arrive!

The vicar welcomed the guests and used a large over head screen displaying a PowerPoint presentation.

Sam arrived and followed her lovely bridesmaids down the aisle with Dad  Stevie at the side of her. The ceremony was lovely. Briony did a lovely reading – supported by Debbie. The vicar had got to know Sam and Gary very well and told everyone that they had ‘met in a pub’ (which sounded funnier in a French accent for some reason) and that Sam had said that her attraction to Gary was because ‘he was a lovely person’. He also talked about marriage, got slightly trigger happy with his PowerPoint presentation but also made jokes about the rings. We think maybe Gary has small fingers… he didn’t explain that in full but found it funny to chuckle to himself which was infectious. He showed great enthusiasm during the lovely service and asked them to kiss once they were Man and Wife. The register was signed in front if the whole congregation and it was then time to sing one more hymn before making their way up the aisle as Mr and Mrs Law!

The weather was kind and we did manage some large group pictures outside the picturesque church. A bus was waiting to transport the guests to Raggalds. It did start to rain again so we had a few people escape and suddenly the bus was full! After we had some pictures of the wedding party, Sam and Gary made their way to the car where the driver greeted them with champagne and chocolates. We took a drive up to a small lay-by near Raggalds with an amazing view. With the classic Jag in shot we took some more dramatic shots. The rain had stopped again but the clouds were moody and grey.

We returned to Raggalds and got a few more pictures around the grounds with Sam and Gary before they were asked to check their reception room. Richard and his team had done them proud. The room looked transformed and very tasteful. We got some pictures of them in the set up room, the couple with the afore mentioned 600 cupcakes and all the little details. They had no seating plan so the guests entered and sat where they wanted. Very relaxed and informal. Just like them! Mr & Mrs Law were announced in and took their places on the top table. Speeches were done straight away. Gary thanked everyone that had played a part in making the day special, his best man and Dad Peter welcomed Sam to the family and was clearly very proud of Son Gary. Sam’s Dad Stevie joked about the Irish relatives on the back table who were the rowdiest bunch of all but all having a good time which is what it’s all about eh? He also urged everyone to eat the cupcakes of course!

The meal was buffet style so informally each table went up to help themselves and the bar was busy all day with people drinking merrily.

As Sam and Gary are friends we were invited as guests so we had a couple of hours off to enjoy the celebration.

When the room was turned around for the night do, we did get a few more of some special people outside and in the bar.

We asked a farmer who lives next to Raggalds if we could use his field for some extra shots who was more than hospitable. Apart from a near scrape with an unfriendly ram this worked out well…. although I can honestly say I’ve never been chased by a ram during a wedding before! More dramatic romantic pictures – check! Thanks to friend and fellow guest Gavin too for helping with the lighting taking on the role of temporary assistant.

Back in the bar there were a lot of merry conversations and it was clear to see everyone was ready for a good party. The excellent band Northern Rokk played for well over an hour which was appreciated and enjoyed by all the guests. They even had a bit of early activity on the dance floor! When they played their last song, they were greeted with shouts for more of course and delivered filling the dance floor with ‘Johnny B. Goode’. The DJ took over after the band had warmed us all up and announced The bride and grooms first dance which was Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking out loud’. They were even joined by Briony for part of the song which was very touching. After that the dance floor was well used all night with guests enjoying themselves. A great time was had by all! Special thanks to Sam and Gary for a great day as photographers and guests! We wish you all the best for your future.

The couple are on their honeymoon in Ireland at the moment.
